The first ACE COMBAT sequel in seven years promises stunning visuals, a deep campaign, and next-generation aerial combat
Revealed during The Game Awards with a visceral audio-visual intro and the first gameplay glimpse, Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. officially announced ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE™. Developed by Bandai Namco Aces Inc., the next mainline entry in the legendary flight-shooting franchise harnesses the power of Unreal® Engine 5 alongside proprietary technology to deliver a visually stunning, ultra-realistic aerial experience.
ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE™ will feature a deep and emotionally charged Campaign Mode, placing players in the cockpit of an ace pilot fighting for identity, duty, and the survival of their homeland. Additional details, including multiplayer modes, will be revealed at a later date. The game is set to launch in 2026 on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam®.
ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE™ continues the franchise’s tradition of pushing visual fidelity and arcade-inspired flight action to new heights. The reveal showcased realistic cloud formations, finely rendered terrain, and dynamic weather conditions that add strategic complexity to every mission. Players can expect breathtaking aerial combat paired with immersive first-person cockpit cinematics that deepen narrative impact.
The announcement trailer offers the first look at the game’s ambitious Campaign Mode, set in the series’ signature universe of Strangereal. With the Federation of Central Usea (FCU) occupied and its navy destroyed, players step into the role of the legendary ace known as the “Wings of Theve”—a symbol of hope named after the FCU capital city. Alongside three new fighter pilots, players wage a desperate counteroffensive against the Republic of Sotoa to reclaim their homeland and restore freedom to their people.
