Introduction

The Destiny 2 development team hosted a dedicated Developer Livestream for Renegades, the new expansion in the Year of Prophecy, created in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games and inspired by Star Wars. To celebrate next week’s launch on December 2, 2025, developers premiered the official Destiny 2: Renegades launch trailer and a new ViDoc titled “Making of a Renegade”, showcasing their creative process and partnership with Lucasfilm Games to bring a wholly new, Star Wars–inspired Destiny experience to life.

Details & Information

Renegades introduces an arsenal of new weapons and gear, including the Praxic Blade, Destiny 2’s first ever lightsaber-inspired Exotic Sword. This kinetic Exotic weapon features multiple customization paths that meaningfully affect gameplay, along with unlockable cosmetics that change the blade’s color.

The expansion also debuts a brand-new weapon archetype: Blasters, featuring a heat-based firing and reload system that replaces traditional magazines.

Inside the Lawless Frontier

Developers revealed new details about the Lawless Frontier, a replayable, high-challenge activity built around Syndicate missions and the new Notoriety system. Players take on jobs for three distinct factions:

• The Pikers: An anarchist Eliksni biker gang seeking a society free of hierarchy.
• Tharsis Reformation: A rogue sect of sentient Vex pursuing individuality outside the collective mind.
• Totality Division: A renegade branch of the Barant Imperium Cabal operating as a Syndicate on Mars.

Job Types Include:

• Smuggling Runs: Transport valuable goods across Syndicate routes.
• Bounty Hunts: Track and eliminate high-value enemies.
• Sabotage Missions: Disrupt rival Syndicate strongholds.

Lawless Frontier expands Mars, Europa, and Venus with new routes and combat spaces and introduces Invasion mode, allowing players to enter another Guardian’s field to disrupt progress and earn exclusive rewards.

Renegades Abilities add customizable offensive, defensive, and support powers that allow players to manipulate combat in unique ways throughout the activity.

New Dungeon: Equilibrium

The new dungeon, Equilibrium, launches December 13, 2025 at 9:00 AM PT. Fans can tune into the official Equilibrium Dungeon Race stream with Evanf1997 and CBGray beginning at 6:00 AM PT.
