On January 14, 2026, a lifelong dream becomes reality as the Air Hares game and comic book officially launch on Steam. After six years of development, creators Tim and Megan Bungeroth are proud to share their passion project with players around the world.

Air Hares is a heartfelt labor of love from the husband-and-wife team, developed alongside an incredible group of freelance programmers, artists, and musicians. Since 2020, the team has been working tirelessly to bring the world of Captain Rabbo to life.

Inspired by their personal journey with infertility and the hope found through science when nature falls short, Tim and Megan created a retro-style bullet hell experience centered on creating life, not taking it. That emotional foundation gives Air Hares a unique tone rarely seen in the genre.

About the Game

Air Hares is a retro-inspired top-down shooter where players control Captain Rabbo, seeding and watering the carrot crops of Winrose while dodging the relentless Gale Gang falcon goons intent on knocking him out of the sky.

Players progress through four stages, each featuring three farming levels followed by a unique boss encounter. As difficulty ramps up, players must master evasive techniques like barrel rolls, parries, and loop-de-loops while contending with environmental hazards such as wind, rain, and lightning.

Co-op mode introduces Dirk Doggo, Captain Rabbo’s loyal canine companion, as Player Two. Designed with accessibility in mind, the game offers a welcoming co-op experience that’s perfect for parents and young kids to enjoy together.
