I won’t say I’m the biggest Gundam fan out there, but I do own most of the anime collector’s editions and have seen about 85% of the various series. Okay, I’m a fan—and that goes double when it comes to the video games. Jumping into a mobile suit and laying waste to enemies is pure joy! That’s why I was counting the days for Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Battle Destiny Remastered to drop. Originally released in 2012, this remaster brought back waves of nostalgia, and I downloaded it the moment it became available.

I won’t claim I replayed every mission for this review—as I already spent plenty of time with the original—but I played enough to clearly see what has changed and what hasn’t. Here’s my full review of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Battle Destiny Remastered for PC!

Gameplay

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Battle Destiny Remastered drops players into the world of Gundam SEED as a new pilot fighting for either the Earth Alliance Force, ZAFT, or the Archangel. Fortunately, you’ll pilot the powerful Mobile Suits and battle through waves of enemies in epic missions.

This version of the game mostly sticks to its original 2012 design, so for those unfamiliar, expect a third-person action combat experience. With over 100 suits available—each offering unique weaponry and tactics—the gameplay remains fast-paced and destructive. Bandai Namco has improved controls and gameplay fluidity, making it feel snappier than the original.

Players can dive into the story mode that follows the SEED lore or take part in custom battles and side missions that deepen the narrative. There’s a solid amount of content here, and fans of the SEED series will especially enjoy the character perspectives these modes offer.

Customization plays a big role in the game. You can tune your suits to specific builds and unlock new upgrades as you progress. It’s shockingly easy to make a basic Strike Suit perform like a high-tier Gundam with the right upgrades. The sheer amount of customization adds a rewarding layer of strategy to the fast-paced action.

Graphics

The word “Remastered” might be a bit of an overstatement. Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Battle Destiny Remastered feels more like it received a light polish than a full graphic overhaul. The in-game visuals and environments still look very much like a title from the early 2010s. While the suit models and character designs maintain their charm, the overall presentation doesn’t reflect the current generation’s standards. It’s not ugly—it’s just far from modern.

Sound

The sound design remains unchanged from the original release—and that’s perfectly fine. The original voice acting returns, along with the classic Gundam sound effects and musical score. These elements still hold up well in 2025 and don’t feel dated. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, and in this case, Bandai Namco made the right call.

Story

If you’re not already familiar with Gundam SEED, the story might feel a bit overwhelming. The game doesn’t go out of its way to break down all the faction history or character relationships, though you’ll pick up enough context from mission briefings and story segments to stay engaged. While it won’t make you an expert on SEED, it provides just enough detail for newcomers—though fans will definitely get more out of it.

Overall Impression

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Battle Destiny Remastered is still a solid Gundam game in 2025, though calling it “remastered” might be a stretch. Visually it’s dated, and some gameplay mechanics feel rough by today’s standards. That said, I still genuinely enjoyed it. Maybe that’s my bias as a Gundam fan talking, but the game knows its audience and plays to them well. There’s a ton of content to enjoy, and while it may not bring in a lot of new players, longtime fans will find plenty of nostalgic value here.

Conclusion

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Battle Destiny Remastered is a fine game at a fair price. While it doesn’t dramatically enhance the original, it does offer a great excuse to revisit—or experience for the first time—one of Gundam’s classic titles. I do wish Bandai Namco had invested more in the visual overhaul and added new features, but for fans of the franchise, this is a solid package. Jump back into your favorite suits, soar through the skies, and aim for those S-ranks once again.
