Whole Grain Pictures Announces Home Media and Streaming Release of the Poignant Post-Vietnam War Odyssey Journey From The Fall

Acclaimed 2006 Film Returns After Nearly 20 Years, Depicting a Vietnamese Family’s Journey from War to a New Life
Whole Grain Pictures, a division of MediaOCD and a boutique media publisher specializing in lost and under-appreciated independent and foreign films, has announced the streaming and Blu-ray release of Journey From The Fall on July 9. Directed by Ham Tran, this poignant and emotional film follows a Vietnamese family as they flee the fall of Saigon in 1975 and begin an incredible odyssey toward a new life in the United States.
Journey From The Fall premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, won sixteen international awards, and received theatrical release. Critics hailed it as “powerful and unforgettable” (CBS Radio) and “movingly rendered” (The Hollywood Reporter). After being unavailable for nearly two decades, the film returns via Whole Grain Pictures.
In light of the upcoming 50th anniversary of the fall of Saigon in April 2025, Journey From The Fall provides a timely reflection on war, resilience, and hope. The film is now available as a Special Edition Blu-ray and can also be streamed via Google Play, YouTube, and Amazon.

The Fall of Saigon, as Told by Those Who Lived It
April 30, 1975 marked the end of Vietnam’s civil war and the beginning of a refugee exodus. In the film, Long Nguyen chooses to stay behind despite his alliance with South Vietnam, and is imprisoned in a Communist re-education camp. His wife Mai (Diem Lien), son Lai (Nguyen Thai Nguyen), and mother Ba Noi (Kieu Chinh) flee by boat, hoping to reach the United States and find freedom.
Inspired by true refugee stories, Journey From The Fall is a harrowing yet hopeful account of a family’s fight to survive and rebuild.
