Reacher Season 3 First Impressions

“Trouble Finds Him No Matter Where He Goes”
Introduction
In 2022, we got a slew of great TV shows like Severance, The Bear, and Netflix’s Archive 81 (which sadly only lasted one season). However, one of the standout series for me was Reacher, based on Lee Child’s novels. The show had already seen two film adaptations starring Tom Cruise, but the TV series brought us Alan Ritchson as the towering ex-military investigator, and it was clear from the start—he was born for the role.
Now, with Season 3 airing and Amazon Prime Video dropping the first three episodes on release day, I binged them immediately. But the question remains: is Reacher still as compelling as before, or is it beginning to feel repetitive? Here are my first impressions of Reacher Season 3.

Why You’ll Like This

Season 3 of Reacher follows the storyline of Persuader, the seventh novel in the Jack Reacher book series. Once again, we find Reacher drifting into trouble—this time in Maine, where he gets caught up in a kidnapping, a possible drug cartel operation, and even an undercover cop shooting.
However, things aren’t as random as they seem. Reacher’s actions are part of a bigger plan, as he sets out to track down a figure from his military police days.
At first, I thought the show’s formula—Reacher stumbling into crime and being forced to clean up a mess—might start to feel stale. But after watching the first three episodes, I found myself eagerly awaiting the next one. The writing, action, and character dynamics continue to keep the show fresh. While it’s too early to declare this season another 10/10, if you enjoyed the previous seasons, Season 3 is off to a fantastic start.
Is It Worth Watching?

For returning fans, watching Season 3 is a no-brainer—you’ll likely finish the first three episodes in one sitting. Even newcomers could enjoy this season since, like the novels, Reacher follows a largely self-contained format.
While there is a chronological order to the books, each one introduces a new case that can be enjoyed independently. That being said, I still recommend watching Seasons 1 and 2 first to fully appreciate Reacher’s character development and connections to past events.
Conclusion

Reacher Season 3 is shaping up to be another hit for Amazon Prime Video. Very few TV series manage to stay consistently strong after multiple seasons, but Reacher continues to deliver.
Of course, I’m keeping my expectations in check—there are still more episodes to come, and things could change. But if the show maintains this level of storytelling, I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up giving it another 10/10 in my full season review.
Here’s hoping Season 3 keeps up the momentum!
