The Final Hour of a Game That Never Existed
The Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of All Time (or TRotEotGRPGoAT for short) is the last hour of a lost (nonexistent) JRPG, “remade” in 3D pixel art complete with director’s commentary, a digital manual, and archival footage.
Players start at level 99, seeing the conclusion to story arcs they were never present for, heroic sacrifices by side characters they never knew existed, all while uncovering the meta-narrative of why they’ve never heard of this game, why they can only play the last hour, and why it’s being remade in the first place.
A Demo Like No Other
This demo teases a snippet of its non-chronological storytelling, offbeat humor, and deduction puzzles as players are dropped in blind to an epic conclusion with no context, and must scour the in-game world — and documentation behind the game world — to understand what’s going on and what to do about it. “I’ve always loved making games that mess around with genre, continually surprising players on gameplay, storytelling, and aesthetic levels,” said Lead Designer Lucas Immanuel. “The Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of All Time is a deduction game, an RPG, and a narrative rabbit hole exploring our relationship to games and the creative process.”Key Features
